Nyende Hawa is a PhD student in Information Systems/Applied IT at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden and an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Information Technology, School of Computing and Informatics Technology, Makerere University, Uganda.

She is a member of the Development Informatics research group in the School of Computing and Informatics Technology, Makerere University. Her research interests include big data analysis and business intelligence and how they can be applied in the health and education sector. She has more than fourteen years of IT and training experience ranging from United States Government contracts to University activities. She has a proven ability to work effectively in multi-cultural environments, manage diverse staff and meet program goals and
objectives. She has worked in business and academic area using her knowledge of Information Technology.

In the last 6 years as an Assistant Lecturer, she has supervised undergraduate students in Information technology research projects including mobile and web-application development in various fields of business, agriculture, education and health. She holds a Master’s Degree in Information Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Computer Science and
Chemistry from Makerere University, Uganda.
