Dr. Isaac Mugume
Dr. Isaac Mugume holds a Ph.D in Meteorology, specializing in Numerical Weather and Climate modeling. He’s also interested in using big data to understand the underlying patterns driving the weather and climate over the tropics. Isaac is presently an Assistant Lecturer of Meteorology at Makerere University and has over 14 years of experience (8 years as Meteorologist/Weather Forecaster and 6 years of teaching and research). To date, Isaac has supervised over 13 undergraduate students and 1 post graduate diploma student to completion. He's currently supervising 3 Masters students and has examined 1 Masters thesis. Isaac has published 13 articles (https://sites.google.com/site/mugumesite/present-research) in peer reviewed international scientific journals in the areas of weather, climate and computing.
Isaac is a Post-Doctorate scholar on the BRIGHT project. He’s studying the “Novel Computational Methods for Improved Detection of Changes in Weather”. By this project Isaac, is analyzing the potential of using the changes in the microwave signals to monitor and predict short-term weather over Uganda. This project is expected to contribute towards the improvement of short-term weather prediction over Uganda.
